Sources of Nitrogen from the Landscape

Forest Area

Forested areas in the Neuse River Basin constitute 62% of the land area. These areas are distributed throughout the basin, but are concentrated in the upper and lowest portion of the Neuse Basin. Forested lands are considered to contribute only background levels of nitrogen to the system.
